Aly and Michael attended high school together but they didn’t actually meet till sophomore year at the top of the arch in St. Louis. Aly picked the pod that Michael was in because she thought Michael was too cute to pass up. But during the ride on the St. Louis arch, Michael didn’t seem too interested in Aly. They didn’t really connect till another year and a half. Their first date was the most uncomfortable and awkward date Aly had ever been on her entire life. They went to see “The Dark Knight” they showed up late to their showing so they spent the next two hours getting to know each other and talking about everything and anything. The date ended awkwardly, but with the invitation to spend the weekend with Michael’s family at his cottage up north. She accepted. They went sailing, hiking and shared their very first kiss amongst the dunes of Michigan. A few days later they started dating and the rest is history.
For the proposal Michael chose Grand Rapids, Michigan “Art Prize”. He got together with one of the artists and planned the entire thing out. He had the artist sing “All of me” by John Legend and then Michael got down on one knee. Aly had never seen Michael smile so much in his entire life. After she said yes, the evening followed with dinner reservations, lots of bubbly, candles and obviously…love.
“My favorite thing about Aly is that she’s always willing to be goofy with me. She pokes fun at the little things and it always makes me smile”
As a tradition since they were in their early teens, Aly and Michael would dance in the kitchen to a song or two after every one had gone to bed and they were still up doing dishes.
Aly & Michael have a really neat tradition of opening one bottle of wine a month that they got on a wine tour and celebrating with it. They saved October’s bottle for their engagement session.
“I fell in love with Michael because he makes me genuinely happy every single day”
The beautiful ring. Michael did a wonderful job!
“I still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be able to spend the rest of my life with her” Micheal said of his excitement over his future wife.
Our session ended with Michael sharing a love letter that he had written for his bride-to-be.
Aly & Michael,
You two are one of the sweetest most genuine couples I have ever had the pleasure of working with. You both had me cracking up even after our session! I can’t wait till the big day when you two will share your vows and start the biggest chapter in your lives together.
